All Nespresso coffee capsules are fully recycled at a recycling facility in Abidjan. With our qualified team, we are able to separate the aluminium and coffee grounds. The aluminium is reused to create new aluminium products. The leftover coffee grounds are transformed into compost and used to help grow produce which you can find at your local supermarkets.
How are my capsules recycled? What happens with them?
The recycling process here in Ivory Coast begins with the collection of used capsules at our points of sale. Special bags are distributed to Nespresso customers. After collection, the capsules are taken to our workshop for manual separation of aluminum and coffee grounds by a trained and equipped team. The aluminium undergoes a further recycling process at a steal smelter where it is reused to make new aluminium products. The coffee grounds are transformed into compost to improve the soil conditions in Ivory Coast to grow produces which we buy every day. Coffee is globally accepted wet waste composting solution that uses food waste only to serve as nutrient rich soil food. The aluminium will be transformed into new products.
