7 WAYS NESPRESSO ENSURES COFFEE CAPSULES AND GROUNDS ARE RECYCLED AROUND THE WORLD

From Switzerland to Singapore, Nespresso makes sure recycling is as simple as making our Espresso.

The planet’s a precious place. To do our small part to protect it, we’re busy providing practical ways of recycling for our consumers around the world.

We started with just one program in Switzerland 25 years ago, and now there are Nespresso recycling initiatives in 39 countries and more than 14,000 collection points worldwide.

Want to find your nearest recycling scheme? Check out a few of our initiatives around the globe:

01

Australia

People can put their used capsules in specially designed Nespresso Australia Post recycling satchels and either post them or take them to a post office.

02

Switzerland

We’ve teamed up with the famous Swiss Post for our super-convenient Recycling at Home scheme in Switzerland. Coffee drinkers can put their capsules into a Nespresso bag and give it to their postman when they deliver their next order of coffee.

03

Hong Kong

Coffee grounds separated from capsules are sent to the Hong Kong Organic Waste Recycling Centre in the New Territories to be made into farm compost. The coffee grounds are rich in nitrogen, one of three main nutrient components used in compost or fertilizer.

04

France

Working with several partners, we’ve helped more than three million people across France to dispose of aluminium packaging using recycling bins. Project Metal encourages the collection of small aluminium packaging within the French national packaging recovery system by paying cash incentives for every ton sorted.

05

Argentina

The coffee grounds obtained during the recycling of our capsules are used by Pecohue, a recreation centre for young adults with learning difficulties, to create compost and grow organic vegetables.

06

Singapore

Customers can either drop off their used capsules at a Nespresso boutique or give them to our couriers when they deliver their next order. All Nespresso Club Members who recycle capsules in one of these two ways receive a voucher for 10 percent off purchases at Quan Fa Organic Farm, which uses our coffee grounds as compost for their vegetables.

07

USA

We’ve expanded our recycling partnership with United Parcel Service from 20 to 48 states. People can bring their prepaid bags to one of 88,000 UPS drop-off locations. Or they can give recycling bags to UPS drivers or take them to The UPS Store, a UPS Drop Box, a UPS Customer Center, Office Depot or Staples locations, or UPS Authorized Shipping Outlets.
